Smash Mouth to Replace Beyoncé at 2016 VMAs

After an overwhelming response on an internet poll by MTV, Smash Mouth will be replacing Beyoncé as the night’s most notable performance. In an exclusive interview with the Yew Nork Times, the lead singer of Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell said:

“I’m sorry Beyoncé, but we had one of the best videos of all time. We’re planning on playing All Star a few times in a row, and then after we take a break to let some artists give out awards, we’ll play All Star a few more times.”

Avid Smash Mouth fans have been rejoicing on twitter, saying “somebody once told me that smash mouth was opening at the VMAs 🙏🙏🙏”

A few Beyoncé “Stans” (a reference to Eminem’s song about a crazy fan) are upset, but understand.

“I can’t really be angry at MTV for the choice. Beyoncé is a great artist, but we have to respect one of the best bands of all time.”

While no official information has been released by MTV, there are rumors that a Shrek hologram will host the 2016 VMAs.
